Planned take-out for dinner has closed due to the property being sold out from under them.

On the plus side, they're looking at reopening somewhere else.

On the minus side, that hasn't happened yet, and even if it does, they're looking further away than I want to drive for takeout.

#NoMansSky finally revamped space stations! (Also guilds, and added ship customization.) There will actually be more than one layout each for functional, abandoned, and pirate-controlled stations across species, economies, and planetary types!

I know what I'm doing tonight!

Played a couple of levels of the original Dark Forces and then the first level of the remaster.

Basically, imagine that they replaced all the sprites and textures with more detailed images, and enabled it to run with modern screen resolutions. Same with the cut scenes.

Otherwise it's exactly the same.

It really is like remastering a song from the original audio channels.

Back when the Star Wars Special Editions came out, one of the things they did was redo compositing in a lot of the effects where you could see the mattes in the original print. (This being Lucas, they'd saved the different components). Someone at Lucasfilm said of this that they'd be "the movie you remember, not the movie that it was." (Not counting all of the other changes made to the trilogy).

This is sort of like that. I could have sworn the original ran at better than 320x200, but apparently it didn't. And at first glance, the remaster is in fact closer to the game I remember than the original game is.

Interesting spam/phish technique: Look for subdomains with CNAMEs or SPF records that point to abandoned domains that you can then register...and effectively take control of the subdomain or SPF.

They haven't seen any cases where it's been used to host a phishing site at, say, an msn.com subdomain, but they've seen thousands of cases where it's been used to pass email verification checks.

The article describing "SubdoMailing" gives a detailed example of a spam that made use of an msn.com subdomain that was used for a sweepstakes way back in in 2001 that used a CNAME pointing to the long-abandoned domain name for the contest, but the subdomain was never actually deleted.

Lesson: check your DNS for any dangling references to outside domains that might not exist anymore!
